What is RTD?

RTD (Rudi's Tent Designer) is a design and visualisation toolkit built exclusively for the tent, marquee and tensile structure industry.

If you hire, sell, manufacture or design tents, RTD does one thing that changes everything: it produces an accurate, dimensionally correct 3D model of your structure in under five minutes. The same model built in AutoCAD, Rhino or SketchUp takes two to eight hours. That is the whole proposition. Models in minutes, not hours.

Built for you, not for engineers

  • No technical knowledge, engineering background or design experience needed

  • As easy to use as Canva - most people are up and running within five minutes

  • Runs in your browser on any device: Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android

  • Nothing to install

Sell while the conversation is still happening

When a client calls with an idea, you can build their event in front of them:

  • Their structure, their space, their seating - correct scale, exact geometry

  • Drop the model into a photograph of their actual site

  • Adjust it live as they respond

  • Email a full package of plans, elevations and visuals before the call has been off five minutes

Clients who can see what they are getting are clients who say yes.

One suite, every structure type

RTD comes as a set of dedicated tools, each built around a specific structure:

  • RTD FRAME - Frame Tent - clearspan aluminium frame structures

  • RTD POLE - Pole Tent - classic pole, tension and big top structures

  • RTD STRETCH - Stretch Tent - contemporary stretch membrane tents with real catenary physics

  • RTD ARCHITECT - Architectural Tent - freeform canopies, barrel vaults and umbrella structures

  • RTD DOME - Dome Tent - geodesic and radial domes

  • Plus modules for truss, decking and event site deployment

All tools share the same simple 3D interface, so once you know one, you know them all. Every model exports cleanly to DXF, Rhino, SketchUp, PDF and HTML, ready for your engineers when a project moves forward.

A separate Venue Designer handles seating layouts, with fire-code compliance (BS 9999, EN 13200, NFPA 101) built directly into the physics - non-compliant layouts are impossible to produce.

RTD was created by Rudi Enos, the tensile membrane designer behind Valhalla Tensile 1, the largest portable structure ever built. Decades of real-world tent geometry, catenary physics and industry convention are embedded in the software; every option you see on screen is a real option you can deliver to your client.
